Introduced last year in celebration of the 55th anniversary of Seiko’s and Japan’s first diver’s watch, the awarded watch is a re-creation of the Seiko 1968 diver’s, one of the most important landmarks in Seiko’s diver’s watchmaking history. The subtle gradation of the blue-gray dial captures the beauty of the sea and the way that light gradually fades as one dives deeper into the dark, mysterious world of the ocean. Moreover, this creation is the first diver’s watch to introduce a new grade of stainless steel that allows for supreme levels of scratch resistance and corrosion resistance. In order to meet the requirements of use under the harsh environment of saturation diving, the watch’s structure is designed to be robust and water resistant, and is equipped with the high beat 8L55 movement assembled expressly for diver’s watches in Shizukuishi.
