ORIENT STAR SJC00001B Features
World Time Collection
The Orient Star SJC00001B is a gorgeous watch with a beautiful dial. In terms of functionality it’s a treat as well: a date hand, small seconds and world timer function. This means that it’s very easy to keep track of a second time zone (through the internal bezel).
Under the hood there’s the new Orient 40H60 in-house movement, that ‘hacks’ and can be wound by hand (and of course automatic). The SJC00001B has sapphire glass with a SAR coating. SAR stands for ‘Super Anti-Reflective Coating’ and offers several great benefits over regular sapphire glass. For example it suppresses 99% of all reflections, which means the glass is nearly invisible. This material is also used in high-end binoculars.
It’s an exceptional watch, with a high level of finishing and made with top quality materials. The finishing and overall feel are superb.

About ORIENT STAR SJC00001B
A Star is Born
ORIENT STAR debuted in 1951. The name expresses the aim of creating a timepiece that outshines all others in the universe of mechanical watches. The ORIENT STAR brand continues to live up to its name and captivate watch enthusiasts around the world with genuine mechanical watch excellence. The ORIENT STAR story began with the founding of Tama Keiki Co., Ltd in 1950, rechristened the Orient Watch Co., Ltd. only one year later. After collaborating with Seiko Epson Corporation for over 20 years, the two companies officially merged their business and expertise in 2017. Today Epson’s advanced precision part processing and finishing technologies combine with ORIENT STAR’s passion for authentic quality and craftsmanship to launch a new era of mechanical watches.
History of Orient
Orient Watch is a Japanese watch brand owned by Seiko Epson. Established as an independent company in 1950, it became a functional subsidiary of Epson in 2009 before being fully integrated into the company in 2017.
Until it was absorbed into Epson, the Orient Watch Company had primarily marketed mechanical watches (self-winding & hand-winding), but also produced quartz, light-powered (solar) and radio-controlled models. Outside of the main business, the company produced some moving parts and electronic components that were then assembled into Seiko Epson’s electronic devices.
Currently, Akita Epson Corporation (formally Akita Orient Precision Instruments Co., Ltd.), a group company of Epson, manufactures all of the Orient movements in-house in Yuzawa, Akita, Japan.
