CITIZEN Eco-Drive BN1014-55E Features
Embodying Citizen’s continuous pursuit of innovation and design excellence, the new Eco-Drive 365 timepiece brings together a distinct aesthetic with boundary-pushing, light-powered technology – showcasing how sustainable innovations can power the future. With a bold design that takes its inspiration from the 1973 original, the new Eco-Drive 365 encapsulates the 50-year journey from quartz to Eco-Drive in Citizen watches. The silver-tone timepiece’s case measures 42.5mm across with a contrasting black bezel that integrates smoothly with the sleek lines of the bracelet, making the best use of Citizen’s cutting-edge stainless steel processing and polishing know-how. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the display, with the dial’s surface inspired by an endless starry sky and the innate beauty of the Earth. Silver-tone accents provide the dial with a sense of depth and breadth, while a pair of sharp, dauphine-style hands indicate the time. Inside, the new light-powered, innovative Eco-Drive movement Caliber E365 is at work with an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month, and with the movement requiring exposure to adequate light to then run for 365 days on a full charge, without ever needing a battery. Water resistant to 100 meters.

CITIZEN Eco-Drive BN1014-55E History
History of Citizen
The company was founded in 1930 by Japanese and Swiss investors. It took over Shokosha Watch Research Institute (founded in 1918) and some facilities of the assembly plant opened in Yokohama in 1912 by the Swiss watchmaker Rodolphe Schmid.
The brand Citizen was first registered in Switzerland by Schmid in 1918 for watches he sold in Japan. The development of this brand was supported in the 1920s by Count Gotō Shinpei with his hope that watches could become affordable to the general public. The growth of Citizen until World War II relied on technology transfer from Switzerland.
