SEIKO Presage SPB447 Features
This timepiece combines functionality with traditional Japanese aesthetics – blending the craftsmanship of Urushi lacquering with the travel convenience of a GMT function, displaying multiple time zones at once.
Under a dual-curve sapphire crystal glass is a deep black Urushi lacquer dial, crafted using a centuries-old technique typically found in fine decorative objects such as bowls and furniture.
The gold-colored GMT and second hands extend right to the edge of the dial, for an elevated elegant appearance which also assists in easier legibility. This watch is paired with a brown calf leather strap for a classic design, lined with gold-colored stitching to match the colored hands. The calf leather strap is LWG sourced and certified from a LWG-certified tanner. The Leather Working Group is an international certification organization that aims to create a sustainable leather production environment.
As the first Presage Craftsmanship timepiece with a GMT function, the in-house built 6R54 caliber allows the tracking of two time zones simultaneously. Accurate to -15/+25 seconds per day, the 6R54 caliber has a 72-hour power reserve.
Seiko Presage: Timeless looks, precise mechanical timekeeping. Minimalistic watch designs with a distinctly Japanese aesthetic.
*This watch dial is created by hand with Urushi lacquer. Therefore, it may have slight differences in color or minute distortions. These are unique features of handcrafted Urushi lacquer dials, of which no two are exactly alike.

SEIKO Presage SPB447 Special
Seiko Presage Craftsmanship Series Urushi Lacquer Dial Model
The Seiko Presage Craftsmanship Series highlights traditional skills of Japan by showcasing Japanese beauty in mechanical wristwatches. Seiko introduces a new model in the series with a glossy urushi lacquer dial and a GMT function that displays two different time zones. In doing so, the watch combines practical functionality with a dial whose depth invites repeated glances.
Urushi lacquer has been used since ancient times for bowls, plates, and other utensils because of its characteristics as a highly durable natural material, making it an integral part of people’s lives. The lacquer dials in the Craftsmanship Series are carefully crafted by combining an innovative manufacturing method that directly combines metal and lacquer with traditional techniques to create a smooth surface. The lacquer applied to the dial must have a beautiful luster yet be thin enough not to interfere with the movement of the hands, which requires a high level of skill. Under the supervision of lacquer artist Isshu Tamura, craftsmen repeatedly applied and polished the lacquer dozens of times to produce the unique glossy depth.
The new model expresses the glamorous and elegant side of Kanazawa lacquerware by using a subdued gold color for the GMT hand and the 24-hour layout on the outer edge of the indexes, which harmonizes with the glossy, deep black lacquer dial. The brush-like shape of the GMT hand, extending to the edge of the dial, adds an even more elegant impression. In addition, the white three-dimensional bar indexes, hour and minute hands, and mirror-finished seconds hand maximize the contrast with the black lacquer dial, achieving high legibility.
The strap is made of leather produced by a tannery certified by the Leather Working Group*.
*The Leather Working Group (LWG) is a non-profit organization dedicated to responsibly made, sustainable leather production. Since 2005, LWG has designed standards to certify all actors in the supply chain.

SEIKO Presage SPB447 History
Presage. The product of a century and more of experience
In 1913, Seiko made its first mechanical watch. 1956, Seiko made its first automatic watch. 1958 Seiko created its shock resistant system, Diashock, to preserve precision when the movement is subject to impact. 1959, Seiko invented the Magic Lever spring winding mechanism, and in 1964, it started producing balance springs in-house, utilizing its own specially developed alloy, Spron. 1967, Seiko created Japan’s first hi-beat caliber. 1969, Seiko made the world’s first automatic chronograph with vertical clutch and column wheel systems and in 2014 Seiko’s mechanical watchmaking skills were rewarded with a prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève for its hi-beat caliber.
For over a century, Seiko has developed and refined its mechanical watchmaking skills. Today, all this experience comes together in a new, all-mechanical, collection named Presage. Presage has already been successful in Japan and selected other markets for some time. Now Presage goes global and takes center stage as Seiko’s leading mechanical watch collection.
Presage: A wide range of calibers, designs and tastes
Presage is a collection of broad appeal. It comprises 60 models and uses the full range of Seiko’s mechanical calibers, from the accessible 4R, through 6R to the exclusive 8R. This new caliber is Seiko’s first ever with a center power reserve indicator, and is available in a series of five designs, including a limited edition. Every Presage watch has 10 bar water resistance and a sapphire crystal.
