ORIENT STAR SDE00002B Features
The Retrograde inherits the heritage of mechanical watches, while featuring more sophisticated designs and specifications. A new indication for day of the week has been added. The movement of the retrograde mechanism that was developed after a two-year effort offers a unique hand movement function that returns the hand to the Monday position as soon as a week has elapsed. This is a watch fit for diverse life settings, with substantial mechanisms lying behind its subtle, yet sophisticated appearance.

About ORIENT STAR SDE00002B
A Star is Born
ORIENT STAR debuted in 1951. The name expresses the aim of creating a timepiece that outshines all others in the universe of mechanical watches. The ORIENT STAR brand continues to live up to its name and captivate watch enthusiasts around the world with genuine mechanical watch excellence. The ORIENT STAR story began with the founding of Tama Keiki Co., Ltd in 1950, rechristened the Orient Watch Co., Ltd. only one year later. After collaborating with Seiko Epson Corporation for over 20 years, the two companies officially merged their business and expertise in 2017. Today Epson’s advanced precision part processing and finishing technologies combine with ORIENT STAR’s passion for authentic quality and craftsmanship to launch a new era of mechanical watches.
History of Orient
Orient Watch is a Japanese watch brand owned by Seiko Epson. Established as an independent company in 1950, it became a functional subsidiary of Epson in 2009 before being fully integrated into the company in 2017.
Until it was absorbed into Epson, the Orient Watch Company had primarily marketed mechanical watches (self-winding & hand-winding), but also produced quartz, light-powered (solar) and radio-controlled models. Outside of the main business, the company produced some moving parts and electronic components that were then assembled into Seiko Epson’s electronic devices.
Currently, Akita Epson Corporation (formally Akita Orient Precision Instruments Co., Ltd.), a group company of Epson, manufactures all of the Orient movements in-house in Yuzawa, Akita, Japan.
