A distinctive characteristic of the limited-edition 20th anniversary model is the blue dial. The dial features Arabic numerals, a design signature of Diver design models since its launch in 2004. The blue gradation from 12 o’clock to 6 o’clock represents the beautiful ocean that surrounds Japan, while the dial’s stamped wave pattern, coupled with the words “Anniversary Edition” at 4 o’clock and spectacular gold-colored hands, highlight the celebratory feel of the 20th anniversary model.

The Orient Mako 20th Anniversary Limited Edition is limited to just 3000 pieces worldwide, with each model having a unique serial number engraved into the case back. It commemorates the 20th anniversary of the iconic Orient Mako.
The Case
The Orient Mako 20th Anniversary Limited Edition is housed in a robust stainless steel case that has been treated to a brushed finish. It measures 42mm in width and 13mm in height. A two-toned blue and black aluminum plate 120-click unidirectional rotating bezel sits atop of the case. The colors of the bezel separate between the triangular and 20-minute markers to commemorate the 20 year anniversary of the Mako. The 60-minute count up scale can also be used to measure elapsed time underwater. The bezel plate is equipped with six grooves for enhanced grip and functionality.
The case also features a screw-down crown that is located at 3 o’clock; it is flanked either side by a crown-guard that prevents it from being knocked out of place. The sapphire crystal glass provides the watch with protection against scratches and shattering. It has been treated with an anti-reflective coating which improves the readability of the crystal. It also features a screw down closed case back, which is emblazoned with an engraving of their twin dolphin logo, as well as “20th Anniversary Edition” text.
The Dial
The gradient blue dial showcases a stamped wave pattern that represents the beautiful oceans that surround Japan. It exhibits an uncomplicated layout that offers easy readability at a glance. It is occupied by gold-framed luminous handset and hour markers that allows for nighttime readability. The gold tipped seconds hand contrasts against the background of the black dial. A silver framed day-date aperture is located at 3 o’clock, whilst the gold Orient lion logo is situated proudly beneath the 12 o’clock marker. “Anniversary Edition” text is printed on the dial besides the 20 minute marker.
The Bracelet
The watch is presented on a stainless steel 3-link oyster style bracelet that has been treated to a vertically brushed finish. The bracelet fastens through the use of a fold over deployment clasp.
The Functions
Orient’s caliber F6922 automatic movement powers this timepiece. It is a self winding movement that consists of 22 jewels and offers a power reserve of 40 hours. It has an accuracy of +25/-15 seconds per day. It is water resistant to 200 meters, which means that it can be worn when diving.
About ORIENT RA-AA0822L
Orient Watch is a Japanese watch brand owned by Seiko Epson. Established as an independent company in 1950, it became a functional subsidiary of Epson in 2009 before being fully integrated into the company in 2017.
Until it was absorbed into Epson, the Orient Watch Company had primarily marketed mechanical watches (self-winding & hand-winding), but also produced quartz, light-powered (solar) and radio-controlled models. Outside of the main business, the company produced some moving parts and electronic components that were then assembled into Seiko Epson’s electronic devices.
Currently, Akita Epson Corporation (formally Akita Orient Precision Instruments Co., Ltd.), a group company of Epson, manufactures all of the Orient movements in-house in Yuzawa, Akita, Japan.
