SEIKO Prospex SSC941 Features
Introduced in 1969, the Seiko Speedtimer was a major milestone in chronograph innovation, and marked the beginning of an important decade of the Speedtimer in its prime. The 70s were famed for many things: fashion, music, but also motorsports. Designed under the theme of ‘Classic Motorsports’, the ‘Circuit Race’ Speedtimer is inspired by vintage circuit racing – when cars would rally with extraordinary speed and excitement.
Encased in a black aluminum bezel with gold-coloured plating and a sapphire crystal glass, this chronograph features a black dial, with hour and minute hands that resemble the original Speedtimer from 1969. With 12 spots of Lumibrite, this timepiece is designed to be legible in darker conditions. With a chronograph second scale around the dial ring, this piece also features a Tachymeter on the bezel for measuring speed – an iconic element of the original Seiko Speedtimer.
Featuring a solar-powered V192, this Speedtimer chronograph is accurate to +/- 15 seconds per month, whilst maintaining a full charge of 6 months.
Prospex is a combination of the words ‘Professional’ and ‘Specifications.’ Seiko Prospex timepieces are designed to be practical, reliable and durable; to meet the high standards required in extreme environments for sports lovers and adventure seekers alike.

About Seiko Prospex SSC941
History of Seiko
The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewerly shop called “K. Hattori” (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha, meaning roughly “House of Exquisite Workmanship”.
The first watches produced under the Seiko brand appeared in 1924. In 1969, Seiko introduced the Astron, the world’s first production quartz watch, it cost the same as a medium-sized car. Seiko later went on to introduce the first quartz chronograph.
